How to use the slats: Place a Thickness stick on each side of your clay (preferably pressing it flat a little beforehand) and roll with a rolling pin or clay roller, making sure that the edges of the roller rest on the sticks. When the roller reaches all the way down to the thickness sticks, you have made sure that the clay has the same thickness all across the slab.
